This week, we put the spotlight on Teacher Ginger Diaz-Serrano of Evolve Yoga & Fitness. Driven by the positive changes her personal yoga practice has brought her, she decided to become a teacher to be able to share the benefits of yoga to others.

Funny Nickname: My family calls me Cake.

Home Studio/s: Evolve Yoga & Fitness, Alabang and BGC

If you’re not a yoga teacher now, what would you be? Chef, makeup artist, writer

Favorite Type of Yoga: Baptiste Power Vinyasa and Bikram yoga. I like it hot!

Favorite Yoga Pose: The halfmoon backbend in Bikram series, Crescent lunge backbend,

Ashtanga drop backs, wheel variations… I love backbends in general.

Favorite Food: Turkish, Greek, Spanish, Moroccan… I love lovelove Mediterranean cuisine!

Favorite Movie: Love, Actually

Favorite Musician/Singer: I’m a big fan of Madonna and Elton John. And nothing beats the sound of big bands from the 40’s.

Favorite Person/ Idol: My parents.

Favorite Certified Calm find/s: I LOVE everything BEYOND YOGA because of the way the fabric feels on my body

when I’m practicing and even when I’m not. I’m also obsessed with KLEAN KANTEEN. I want them all! And of course,

MANDUKA! Not just because they make the best yoga mats, but also because of their commitment to authenticity

and their ethics when it comes to sourcing and producing their products. That matters a lot to me.

I’d love to one day travel to… Kenya and Tanzania to witness the great migration.

Hobbies: Reading and writing. A luxury I am rarely able to afford nowadays.

Sports: I love playing badminton.

My Unique Fashion Style: It’s a balance between classic lines and what I can only describe as Bohemia Rock.

I am unique/different because… I’m perfectly comfortable both in and out of the spotlight.

I admit that… I would like to avoid small talks at all times J I really value my free time.

Motto/Mantra: Family first and foremost.

Best Advice Ever Received: Be kind to yourself.
